Installing Google Analytics is an essential element in the creation of your website. It
allows you to find all kinds of useful information about the visitors
to your website, and how they use and interact with your website. This
information can be extremely useful and allow you to adapt your habits
online marketing to meet the specifications of your visitor
.Setting up a Google Analytics account is easy as pie, and will take approximately 10-20 minutes depending on your knowledge of HTML. Firstly, if you do not already do, you want to head to Google and register for a free Google account, it will give you access to all Google services. For this article, we will focus on Google Analytics, but I highly recommend setting up your web site in Google Webmaster Tools also.Once you have registered for a Google account, simply type into Google Analytics and click on the first link and sign in with the Google account you just set up or already with Google. Once connected, you want to click the register button you will be redirected to a page where you can enter your information websites. You will need to add the following details on this page.· Site Name· Website· Industry Category· Time Zone· The account name (your site name)You want to make sure at the bottom of the page is checked as you will need these features if you want to link your website with one of the other website Google services. Once you are happy with the information you have entered, click on the button "Get Tracking Number" to take the next step.On the next page of the installation process, you will be redirected to a page that has your personal tracking code websites. You must copy the code so that it appears on every page of your site just before the closing head tag, which looks like this "</ head>". Depending on how your site is built it can be done in many ways, I'll cover how to do this on a standard WordPress and web site because these are the two main ways to create websites.Installing tracking code on a standard website is a fairly simple process, you just do not have to open each page of your website in your chosen program and copy and paste the code on every page of your site, and then download files. If your site is a WordPress site, you need to log in to the site via FTP and go to your theme folder WordPress sites and look for "header.php" and copy and paste it in the same place, then save and download file. It will now appear on every page of your site. Once you have added the code, simply click on the button at the top of the reports page, it will take page where you can see an overview of everything that happens on your site.Now that you have successfully installed the tracking code on the site you will be able to see the traffic to your site with a whole bunch of other useful statistics.
